Idleness is the moment in time when a person dwells in his/her uselessness and unworthiness. Everybody in this world is created for certain noble purposes and intents. Why waste one’s time in doing nothing? Evil creeps in each of those who have only nothing to do.
Do something more than nothing is an antidote for one’s state of idleness. Keeping oneself busy prevents someone from vain imaginations and evil thoughts. It is in the state of being busy wherein one does worthy things and becomes productive. Unworthy and insignificant things done accordingly to serve noble purposes will become worthy and significant. Likewise, great purposes are always intended to bring about high achievements as outcomes of being busy. There is one thing everyone must know and consider. Not everybody is capable of doing great things to realize great results and outcomes.
This writer knows somebody though seemingly very insignificant became great by “Doing something more than nothing”. Formerly, an inmate in a local orphanage house who grew up and became great of what he is now. When Tony (fictitious name} became mature, he got out of the orphanage to lead a life of his own. He adapted “Do something more than nothing” as a philosophy in his life that made him a “difference”.
Tony saw the great things that are contained in unworthy and very insignificant things. He became a garbage man in the highest order. With his motorized tricycle, Tony is a little man who does a great job everyday out of the garbage bins of stores and other commercial and business establishments in the city. He collects every piece of garbage for a very noble purpose and more than that, he made it as a trade, occupation and business.
Tony being busy everyday has not experience being pulled down by the evils of idleness. Every time he wakes up in the morning, the trashes in the city are waiting for him. The occupation and business he made out of garbage yielded him an abundant and comfortable life. He owns a house and lot. Got a good wife and live with a contented life. He sent his children to schools and saw them finished college education out of the noble outcomes of his daily great activities of simply “Do Something more than Nothing”.
