Belgian coach carrying 52 people returning from a ski holiday among them 46 children, aged eleven and twelve , has crashed on Tuesday night occurred in Sierre, canton Valais, Switzerland,at least 22 school children among 28 killed , report AFP.
"The magnitude of the accident is difficult to digest ... for the moment I am concentrating on the practical aspects," said Belgium's ambassador in Switzerland Jan Luykxon early Wednesday.AFP
Early reports attributed the crash to excessive speed as the driver lost control and the bus crashed violently against the left wall of a tunnel on the highway in the canton of Valais, in the Switzerland's southern border with France and Italy.
A police statement said: 'The bus hit the barrier stones on the right side of the road. It then hit the tunnel wall front-on in an emergency stop space. Because of the strong impact the bus was badly damaged and several passengers were trapped in the wreckage.' according to Daily Mail.
