Cricket Asia cup: India defeated Sri Lanka by 50 runs, Gambhir and Kohli hit centuries

India won its first match against Sri Lanka in Asia cup cricket 2012 by 50 runs. Indian team made 304 runs in prescribed 50 overs batting first. Sri Lankan team was all out scoring only 254 in 45.1 overs.

Both Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir did well and hit centuries for their team India. Sachin Tendulkar again failed to score big and out scoring only 6 runs in 19 balls. Farveez Maharoof took two wickets and Suranga Lakmal picked one for Sri Lanka.

None but Mahela Jaywardhane and Kumara Sangakkara could bat well for Sri Lanka. Mahela Jayawardena played a marvelous innings of 78 runs in 59 balls. Sangakkara made 65 runs.

Irfan Pathan, who started Indian bowling attack, bagged four wickets whereas Vinay Kumar and Ravichandran Ashwin took 3 wickets each for Indian team.

• Virat Kohli c Lahiru Thirimanne b Farveez Maharoof scored 108 runs in just 120 balls hitting 7 boundaries.

• MS Dhoni Not out scoring 46 runs in 26 balls with 6 fours and a six.

• Suresh Raina Not out. Scored 30 runs in just 17 balls with 3 hits to fence and a over boundary.

• Mahela Jayawardena c MS Dhoni b Irfan Pathan scoring 78 runs in only 59 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes.

• Kumar Sangakkara c Ravindra Jadeja b Ravichandran Ashwin scoring 65 runs in 87 balls. He sent balls outside the fence for only 2 times for fours and once for six.

• Lahiru Thirimanne lbw b Ravichandran Ashwin Scoring 29 runs in 37 balls.
