    Sunlight is all it takes
Making Hydrogen

Scientists in Australia have succeeded in using plain sunlight to split water into oxygen and hydrogen. They are proud to have re-created a process in the laboratory that nature has evolved over 3 billion years. It is thus the latest instance of innovation embracing nature.

Scientists have isolated hydrogen and oxygen in such environments before but it has tended to take more than sunlight and 1.2 volts of electricity in the past. This new and improved process means that hydrogen can be produced cheaply and extensively on a commercial scale.

The finding may just revolutionize the renewable energy industry. Hydrogen has immense potential has a clean and efficient fuel and the easier it is to generate, the better.
