Brittney Spears Turns Down $10 Million for “The X Factor”

According to E!, Spears turned down that offer three weeks ago and since then, was considering becoming a performer in a hotel in Las Vegas. She’d be doing the same thing that Celine Dion is doing out in the gambling mecca of the U.S.

However, Simon Cowell needs a big name for his judges’ panel. This is especially true since “The Voice” from NBC will be competing directly against them. Spears now wants $20 million to judge the show. While this is a ridiculous amount and it’s very unlikely that Fox will pay that much, there will probably be some sort of middle ground in the final negotiations. That is if Cowell doesn’t get angry about the sheer greed involved on Spears’s part.

NBC is reportedly paying almost $10 million for Christina Aguilera’s return to “The Voice.” The paychecks for the other three judges/coaches are likely pushing the same. However, what “The X Factor” has paid in the past has been just a fraction of what NBC has paid. Paula Abdul, according to an inside source, only made $2.5 million. However, she was also fired just a few months ago, as was Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones.

The judges won’t need to be in place until May, even though “The X Factor” is already in the process of recording the audition phase. Fox isn’t commenting on Spears and neither is Cowell or Spears. When Abdul joined the show, it was at the very last minute. Surely Fox would like to see these decisions made a bit earlier, as it gives them more power when it comes to attracting advertisers. The advertisers are supposed to meet with Fox on May 14, a full two weeks before the judges are needed for taping.
