Mexican authorities are investigating a mass grave in southerncountries with more than 167 sets of remains were found may have been a pile of at least 50 years ago, Reuters quotedMexican officials said on 10.3 .
The remains were found in a cave near the border withGuatemala, and in a state of "falling apart when being touched," said an official with the Chiapas state prosecutor's office.
Investigators are trying to determine the age and sex and cause of death of the victims, the official said.
