Two personnel of security forces killed in Bara including a Lieutenant, three extremists were also killed in the clashes that took place at Alamgodhar at Sepah tribe in Bara here on Saturday. In another incident of mortar shelling three children were killed and two other sustained splinters injuries at Aka Khel area of Bara.
In the fresh clashes between security forces and the fighters of the banned Lashker-e-Islam (LI) two security forces’ personnel including a lieutenant were killed and two other were bruised here on Saturday at Alam Godhar at Sepah area in Bara. In the befitting retaliation of the security forces, three militants affiliated with LI were also reportedly killed, local sources told. It was also reported by local that security forces also bombed the hideouts of the suspected militants from gunship copters in the same area. It was also reported that the security forces cordoned off a home where five militants of the banned LI had taken shelter who were shot dead there, local sources said.
In another incident at Aka Khel Bara, a mortar shell landed at a house where three children were reportedly killed and two other sustained injuries with fragments of the mortar shell besides damaging the rooms of the said house. However, a local media person told that in the mortar shell three children had been wounded without killing any child.
For the last few months, the mortars shelling have disrupted life in various areas of Bara sub-division of Khyber Agency. It is hard to ascertain that where from the mortar shells are fired. However, most of the residents of Bara accuse the security forces for firing mortar shells blindly which cause collateral human and material loss, though the security forces’ sources have denied such reports to be accurate. Mostly women and children have been either killed or injured on the blind mortar shelling in Bara, because the women and children stay inside their homes in the prevailing uncertain situation of law and order. The security forces have expedited the offensive against the militants in all over the Khyber Agency.
Landikotal sub-division of Khyber Agency has been almost cleared of the militants with the support of the Zakha khel Peace Lashker identified as Tawheed Ul Islam, as the militants rarely carry out any subversive activities in Landikotal. The far flung areas of Landikotal known as Bazaar Zakha Khel and its surrounding areas upto the borders of Tirrah valley have been cleared of the militants’ groups, which had a sway over the area in the recent past.
This is also interesting to note that Lashker-e-Islam (LI) and TTP fighters have been fighting against one another in different areas of Tirrah valley, which has caused dent to their factions. The LI’s activities and net work have been undermined owing to the persistent military offensive against their factions and similar is the case with TTP affiliated factions in Khyber Agency Bara and Tirrah Valley. The security forces have also suffered a lot materially and in form of humans in the offensive against the extremists militants.
