Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge joined British monarch Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, as they visit Leicester on March 8, 2012, commencing the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee tour of the United Kingdom through July 25.
Dressed in a belted peacock blue-green dress by designer LK Bennett, that featured a square neckline, long sleeves and ruffle at the hips, Catherine accessorized with a black hat and black pumps.
Queen Elizabeth, 85, looked lovely in a pink dress with matching cashmere coat and hat with black trim and buttons, accessorizing with black gloves, black bag and matching pumps, as well as a floral basket brooch and pearls in her ears and a three strand pearl necklace.
Word has it that their royal party was greeted by Indian Bollywood style dancing, Chinese umbrella dancers, a gospel choir as well as two columns of Army veterans from the Coldstream and Grenadier Guards.
They were also treated to a fashion show at De Montfort University, which featured designs created by School of Fashion students. A Footwear Design student, Becka Hunt, was then chosen to design a pair of shoes for Catherine.
Highlights of the trip also included Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth and Catherine visiting Leicester Cathedral where they joined others in singing hymns as well as meeting with members of the community. The three royals were also invited to sign a certificate to commemorate their visit to Leicester Cathedral. Take a look at their visit to Leicester in my slide show.
