Oprah Winfrey interviews members of Whitney Houston's family

Report By: Nina Rai

Los Angeles, 09 March, 2012

Whitney Houston's sister-in-law and manager Patricia Houston spoke to Oprah Winfrey in an interview about her fears for the pop star, just before the latter's untimely demise last month. The partial transcript of the interview to be aired on Sunday 11th March, has now been released.

According to Patricia trying to chase a dream and “looking for love in all the wrong places” is what finally took Whitney Houston life. “I wish we had the autopsy and the toxicology report because odds are, she’s off the mark,” declared Patricia.

The excerpts of the interview released by Oprah’s PR Chelsea Hettrick appears to lay the blame for the late singer’s untimely demise on Whitney’s on/off boyfriend Ray J, younger brother of singer Brandy.

This appears to be a new twist to the unsavory Whitney Houston death saga. It should be interesting, as till now the blame has been laid squarely on the shoulders of Bobby Brown, Whitney Houston’s former husband.

Meanwhile, the interview is said to be highly controversial. Surprisingly, noted R&B singer Cissy Houston, Whitney’s mother is not in it. Apparently Whitney’s public relations personnel were against it.

Patricia’s interview with Oprah will be aired on Sunday precisely 30 days after Whitney’s death. Speculation is rife that Oprah Winfrey doled out big cash for the interview, with one record executive backing this rumor with the surmise “They (family) would need the quick cash.” However, a family insider insisted that no money has been exchanged.

In the course of the interview, Patricia Houston disclosed that she feared it would be drugs that would end the singer's life and added she would be "kidding herself" to say otherwise.

When asked by Oprah if she thought drugs would end up "taking" Whitney Houston. “Did you think that”? The "handwriting was kind of on the wall," Patricia replied fatalistically.

According to her the late pop star was even changing how she was living, and "it wasn't about substance abuse or anything like that relative to the ... latter days or anything like that."

Whitney’s sister-in-law then went on to disclose that it was just more of a lifestyle. She was afraid for other things as well. "I saw her chasing a dream, you know, looking for love in all the wrong places," she declared.

Whitney Houston's only child with singer Bobby Brown, Bobbi Kristina and the singer’s brother Gary Houston too, were interviewed for the episode of "Oprah's Next Chapter" airing 9 pm in US on March 11, 2012.

I have heard conversations from the average person saying drug abuse takes it toll on your body and death can come at any time after years of abuse to the body.
