Most prestigious event in the automotive world, Geneva Motor Show, names 'Car of the Year 2012'

Will you be anywhere close to Geneva over the next several days? Do you want to see all these shiny, classy, sporty, and futuristic car models the biggest and most prominent motor companies are going to unveil? Well, if you’re going to be there, have fun, if not, still have fun checking out some photo galleries.

In case you want to see some models by yourself, the 82nd Geneva International Motor Show will be open March 8-18, 2012. You can have a close look, admire, but cruelly, you can’t take it for a test drive. So, not much difference if you can’t afford an expensive trip to Switzerland and, instead, have a very close look at some of the shiny cars in this photo gallery.

This year, a total of 180 World and European Premiers will be presented by the 260 exhibitors, and the newest models from more than 30 of the world’s major manufacturers will be unveiled.

The opening event for the 82nd Geneva International Motor Show was the ceremony for the oldest and most prestigious award of the automotive world - ‘Car of the Year 2012’, which went to the Opel (Vauxhall) Ampera/Chevrolet Volt. It beat six other finalist on the road to victory: Citroën DS 5, Fiat Panda, Ford Focus, Range Rover Evoque, Toyota Yaris and Volkswagen Up!.
