Rebels in eastern Libya show off seized weapons

Tribal leaders and militias in the eastern sector demand their share of power independent of the territory it controls the National Transitional Council. No country in the effective leadership since the overthrow of Gaddafi.

They are advocates of a " federal system "and to the weakness of a chaotic CNT , which runs from the fall of Libya Muammar Gaddafi, have chosen Tuesday by declaring auntomía the region, oil par excellence, where the riots began that ended with the rise of the rebels who killed the former dictator.

The new region has to name: he called Cyrenaica and, as their leaders, will extend from the border with Egypt to Sirte (360 km east of Tripoli), and chaired by the Zubair Ahmed , the man who was longer in prison for the Government of Gaddafi: 31.

Al Zubair is a cousin of the Sanussi Idris, Libya was only King and was overthrown in 1969, and is also part of the National Transitional Council. Ensures that protect the rights of the region now represents and the council he heads recognize the CNT as the legitimate representative of Libya internationally.

According to the Constitution of 1951 that governs now in Libya, the country has two capitals in the manner of Holland: the policy would Tripoli and economic, Benghazi , Gaddafi's hometown. Both cities are more than 1,000 miles away.

"The Libyans fought for a united Libya, which is why these orders should have no consequence any, "said Al Zubair one day before declaring the independence of this part of the country.

The NTC response was immediate. "Federalism is unnecessary Do not want to go back 50 years ago, "said the Prime Minister Abdel Rahim al Kib.

Libya was divided into three administrative regions -Tripolitania, Cyrenaica and Fezzan, until 1963, when the federal system was abandoned.
