The blind auditions are over and the judges/coaches have their 12 member teams, but tonight the battle rounds began meaning the coaches would lose half of their singers by the end of the round and the live shows for fan votes.

Each coach has enlisted the aid of two musical colleagues to help them prepare the singers for the battle rounds…

Adam has Alainis Morrisette and Robin Thicke

Blake has two veterans of the reality music competitions shows – “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson and “Nashville Star” alum and wife Miranda Lambert

Cee Lo chose two music producers/performers in Babyface Edomonds and Ne-Yo

and Christina has chosen Jewel and Lionel Ritchie

First up for the battle round are Tony Lucca and Chris Cauley who will be singing “Beautiful Day” by U2. After a performance that Blake called awesome; adding that Chris was more consistent. Christina said both guys were feeling it. Cee Lo liked Chris’ personality but felt Tony was more articulate. Adam said the guys did an amazing job and said he had no idea the guys would be this close. Adam chose Tony Luca to move on to the live show rounds. After being elilminated Chris said Adam couldn’t go wrong with his choice.

Blake made his choices telling his singers that only six of them would survive. It was Adley and RaeLynn singing “Freefalling” by Tom Petty. Christina noted that both girls brought their own style to the song but Adley was the stronger of the two. Cee Lo said that though good RaeLynn needs to grow vocally. Adam said the girls did a great job; adding that RaeLynn was unique. Blake sought to find which girl made him believe the song and chose RaeLynn to move on to the live shows.

It’s team Christina’s turn to battle. First up are Chris Mann and Monique Benabou, who is facing a battle before she even begins because she can’t read music and has never been trained. The pair performed “The Power of Love” by Celine Dion. Cee Lo said both sounded wonderful, calling best one of the best they have. Adam felt Chris was better. Blake said Monique brought it. Christina said they brought their A game. In a tough decision Christina chose Chris to move on to the live shows.

It was Cee Lo’s turn to pick a pair of singers to battle; he chose Cheesa and Air Force member Angie Johnson to fight it out with “Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie Tyler. The battle began even before the girls hit the stage with the decision for what key to sing the song in. Adam said both girls were really powerful; saying there was no loser. Blake said both girls had their moments. Christina said it was a great match. Cee Lo said he felt like a proud father and it felt like a real battle. Cee Lo was reluctant to decide but chose Hawaiian Cheesa to move on to the live shows.

Back to Blake’s team where he chose Jordis and Brian who performed “Ironic” by Alainis Morrisette. Christina said there were some shaky and picky moments in the whole performance. Cee Lo got a kick out of seeing Brian perform. Adam noted that it has been tough all night. Blake wanted a rock singer on his team – using Adam as a marker for that – and noting that there were some pitchy moments and he didn’t feel either singer did their best; With that Blake said the winner of the battle was Jordis.

The next battle pair from team Christina was Anthony Evans and Jesse Campbell who performed “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys. Host Carson Daley called it a heavy weight battle of epic proportions. Cee Lo said it was a stellar performance and he was blown away. Adam said the sheer level of talent was insane and mind blowing. Blake said the whole thing was so good it was awesome. Christina said she was so upset that she had to make a decision. She was at a loss for words but in the end chose Jesse to move on to the live shows. Anthony said he has no regrets.

Next week the remaining singers battle it out for the remaining spots for the live shows.
