ISLAMABAD, March 04: A magistrate in Southern city of Punjab province, Jhang, has nodded for registration of criminal cases against owners of popular social web sites including Facebook, Youtube and Cultural Editor, a Danish newspaper, for use of derogatory remarks and defiling of the sacred names of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW).
The rare judicial order was passed by District and Sessions Judge Jhang, Muhammad Masood Arshad who also ordered for serving of notices upon Fleming Rose editor of the Cultural Editor, Molly Norris Seattle US ambassador, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, and others through US embassy in Islamabad.
The police station in Jhang is reported to have lodged the criminal cases against the respondents.
The orders were passed on an application of Muhammad Zahid Saeed Bhutta, a lawyer of Lahore High Court who contended that with use of derogatory contents and drawings being shown on internet, religious sentiments of Muslims all over Pakistan and the globe were hurt.
