He worked at Boeing and Kaiser Graphics Art before he became associated with the CBS News as he was employed to design animation of the Apollo space flights. To some extent George Lucas’ Star Wars owe its production to McQuarrie too. He was the creator of the theme and concept art that was essential part of the winning factors that got the 2oth Century Fox to approve of Lucas’ Star Wars. Lucas’ , even after the huge commendable success of the American Graphiti, Lucas could not get people to see potential in his Star Wars Script.
