Former New York Giants player and coach Alex Webster died Saturday

News sources ESPNNewYork.com and Associated Press. East Rutherford New Jersey. Former New York Giants running back and coach Alex Webster died Saturday in a hospital in Florida the team announced this weekend. Webster was 80 years of age.

Webster was a native of Kearney New Jersey. Webster played his entire career in the National Football League (NFL) with the New York Giants from 1955-1964. He was the head coach of the Giants from 1969-1973.

Webster played his college football at North Carolina State, He played from 1953-54 in the Canadian Football League.

Webster was inducted into the Giants Ring Of Honor in December 2011.
