The winner of the Washington state’s GOP caucuses was presidential candidate Mitt Romney who reeled to a double-digit victory; Ron Paul and Rick Santorum duke it out for second place.
Romney was declared winner by ABC News and the Associated Press at about 6 p.m. Saturday, and CNN also anticipated that he would win the state's straw poll of Republican voters. It was Romney's fourth campaign triumph in a row.
Hitherto, caucus results have ended up from about 60 percent of Washington state's 6,700 precincts. Mitt Romney was on the lead, with 37 percent of the vote. Ron Paul and Rick Santorum tied at about 24.5 percent each, with Paul retaining a small 12-vote lead over Santorum. Coming in fourth was Newt Gingrich and the rest of the vote tally was shared between undecided voters and those voting for other candidates.
