Ms. Fiza Batool Gilani Pakistan’s Goodwill Ambassador for Women Empowerment and leader of Pakistan’s delegation to 56th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) on Friday met with the Executive Director of UN Women Ms Michelle Bachelet. Secretary Human Rights Mr. Saeed Alvi accompanied the Goodwill Ambassador. says a press release received here today from New York.

Ms Bachelet appreciated the recent legislative developments in Pakistan with regard to women rights and empowerment of women. She expressed the desire to further strengthen UN Women’s partnership with Pakistan.

Ms. Fiza Batool Gilani recalled Pakistan’s strong support and constructive contribution as a member of the UN Women Executive Board in its first formative year. Ms. Gilani highlighted the progress made by Pakistan in the areas of women rights, empowerment of women, and political participation of women in recent years. Ms. Gilani emphasized the need for UN Women to continue to support Pakistan’s development priorities.
