Prince Harry has been deputed by Queen Elizabeth II to undertake a tour of the Caribbean and Belize (previously known as the British Honduras) as her representative on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee Year.
The 27-year old Prince, known as a ‘party animal’ and his wild ways has accordingly flown from Miami in a private jet and has landed in Belize for a 10-day visit.
He was welcomed by Dean Barrow, the Prime Minister of Belize and Governor-General Sir Colville Norbert Young.
Apart from routine activities like renaming a street his itinerary is quite interesting – he would get enough opportunities to let his hair down.
One of these is the chance to learn the intricacies of a local folk dance. His teachers would be female Garifuna dancers.
Another activity slated especially for him is the tasting of local varieties of rums, fruit wines and beers at a street party.
.Later he would climb a Mayan pyramid in the city of Xunatunich – incidentally, the year 2012 is the year the Mayans had predicted as the end of the world.
