They said, "Love Conquers All." James Hooker proves this to be true. He just left his wife and kids for his love interest: his 18-year-old student, Jordan Powers.
Their relationship is not strange to everyone. But as professional teacher Hooker seems to have forgotten what he said during his oath taking. As we all know teacher is a person who provides education for pupils (children) and students (adults). The role of teacher is often formal and ongoing, carried out at a school or other place of formal education.
Powers and Hooker's scandal has now captivated national media attention. They appeared on ABC's "Good Morning America" on Thursday. "I know, it's crazy!" said Enochs High School senior Jordan Powers on Thursday.
Hoooker resigned from his job at Enochs High School in Modesto, California and moved in with his girlfriend. The 41-year-old teacher also have a 17-year-old daughter who happens to be Jordan's friend.
Jordan met her teacher as a freshman, but both maintain nothing physical happened until she turned 18 this past September. Hooker claims he saw Powers as "just a student" and had no romantic feelings toward her at first, but when her most recent birthday came around, things changed.
Tammie Power, Jordan's mom was in shocked. She launched an official investigation to find out if Hooker's relationship with Jordan started before she turned 18. She also turned her own Facebook page into a "most wanted" profile for Hooker. She's plastered his photo all over her wall warning neighbors about the man she calls an "arrogant pig". She's also made her wallpaper a photo of a prison cell, sending a message to Hooker should he dare visit her site.
This is a picture of JAMES HOOKER from Enochs High School....a perverted man in his forties, who has taken advantage of a little girl. Now, James if you're reading this while you have my daughter----you better believe everyone will know you're a sick child molester....
Despite of this controversy Hooker is confident that his wife claims will turn up nothing. He even blames the "stigma of the teacher-student relationship" for the public backlash. But Hooker's former boss, Modesto City Schools Supt. Pam Able, doesn't agree.
This couple may not break any laws, according to Able, "considers student-teacher dating relationships to be not only unprofessional, but immoral." She also added in an email to the Modesto Bee, that Hooker's relationship has become a "source of great concern for staff, students and parents."
Jordan Powers has stopped taking classes at Enochs High, but is completing her senior year through independent study and plans to walk at her graduation in May.
