
Earlier in the first half, Denis Wolf scored a goal in the 34th minute off an assist from Sabio to give the Azkals a 1-nil lead.
Despite the draw, the Filipinos felt good as they wrap up their preparation for the AFC Challenge Cup, which is slated from March 8 to March 19.
"It was a fantastic match. I have to commend the players for playing remarkable. I am positive that with the addition of two or more players, we can do good in the Challenge Cup," said Azkals' coach Michael Weiss, who’s hoping to have Fil-foreigners Paul Mulders, Dennis Cagara and Stephan Shrock in their Nepal trip.
The Azkals stood their ground against the more internationally experienced Tigers as they showed marked improvement especially on defense.
The Malaysians repeatedly attacked the Filipinos' defense. But Sabio, Lexton Moy and Ray Jonsson responded with solid defense in the entire 90 minutes of play.
