One dead, four hurt in Ohio high school shooting - Student :

A teen gunman opened fire in an Ohio school on Monday, killing one student and injuring four others.

Tragidy struck in one of the schools in Ohio Monday as a teen opened fire and later tried to flee the crime scene. The shooter, who was a student at the school, has been identified as T.J. Lane, who is now in police custody.

The gunman opened fire inside the school cafeteria at the start of the classes and later tried to run away. A teacher at the school chased Lane, who was taken into custody near his car, half mile from suburban Cleveland.

The teen shooter has not been identified formally by the FBI. It were students and parents who identified him to the reporters. A motive for the shooting has still not emerged, but students reported that Lane used to be bullied and was somewhat of an outcast at school.

One of the victims of the shooting was Daniel Parmentor, 17, who died after being rushed to the hospital. Parmentor was a high school junior who went to a nearby vocational school, where he studied computer science. The boy was waiting in the cafeteria for the bus when Lane opened fire on him.

"We are shocked by this senseless tragedy," said a statement from Parmentor's family, provided by a reporter. "Danny was a bright young boy who had a bright future ahead of him. The family is torn by this loss. We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time."

The wounded students were identified by the Cleveland Plain Dealer as joy Rickers, 18, Nick Walczak, 17, Russel King, 17, and Demetrius Hewlin, 16. Two of the victims of the shooting were reported in critical condition, whereas one was reported in serious condition.

The whole community is shaken by the Ohio school shooting and prayer vigils will be held at the school and several area churches on Monday night for the victims of the shooting.

The lawyer for the T.J. Lane family, Bob Farinacci, released a statement on behalf of the family, saying, "They want to give their most heartfelt and sincere condolences to the family of the young man who passed and their continuing prayers are with all those who were injured. This is something that could never have been predicted. T.J.'s family has asked for some privacy while they try to understand how such a tragedy could have occurred and while they mourn this terrible loss for their community."

Further investigations will reveal the details of the Ohio school shooting.
