Nine killed in Afghan airport bomb, NATO base attacked

Suicide car bombers attacked the Jalalabad airport in eastern Afghanistan and left 9 dead while 10 more are injured. The Taliban has termed it as a ‘revenge killing’ and have accepted responsibility for the attack. It is believed to be in retaliation of burning of a copy of the Holy Koran in an US Air base.

US President Barack Obama has already expressed the apologies of the US to Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and has said that it was an unintentional act.

Still the unrest seems to be growing, simmering like a fire.

NATO in Afghanistan has informed that there is no report on any international forces being in the list of casualties – the airport caters to both domestic as well as international flights.

Apparently, the attack has damaged at least four vehicles at the entrance to the airport.
