Big South Conference Men's Basketball Championship Schedule

For lower mid-major conferences, their conference championship is the only chance for a team to make it into the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Throw all of the records out of the window because this week will determine their entire season.

As we near March Madness, the Big South Conference will be the first conference this year to start its championship. Here is the schedule for the tournament.

First Round -- Monday, February 27th:

Game 1: #10 Radford (6-25, 2-16 conference record) at #7 VMI (14-15, 8-10) -- 7 PM EST

Game 2: #9 Gardner-Webb (12-19, 6-12) at #8 High Point (12-17, 8-10) -- 7:30 PM EST

The first round games are to be played at the home of the higher-seeded teams.

Quarterfinals -- Wednesday, February 29th:

Game 3: Winner of Game 1 at #2 Coastal Carolina (19-10, 12-6) -- 12 PM EST

Game 4: #6 Winthrop (11-19, 8-10) at #3 Campbell (17-14, 11-7) -- 2 PM EST

Game 5: Winner of Game 2 at #1 UNC-Asheville (21-9, 16-2) -- 6 PM EST

Game 6: #5 Liberty (11-17, 9-9) at #4 Charleston Southern (18-11, 11-7) -- 8 PM EST

All quarterfinal games are to be played at Kimmel Arena in Asheville, NC. (I hope that they didn't name their arena after Jimmy Kimmel.)

Semifinals -- Thursday, March 1st:

Game 7: Game 3 Winner vs Game 4 Winner -- 6 PM EST

Game 8: Game 5 Winner vs Game 6 Winner -- 8 PM EST

Both semifinal games will also be played at Kimmel Arena.

Final -- Saturday, March 3rd:

Game 9: Game 7 Winner vs Game 8 Winner -- 12 PM EST

The Big South Conference Men's Basketball Final will be played at the home court of the highest seed left.

If you check out the Big South's website at bigsouthsports.com, then you will see that they have Tuesday instead of Wednesday for the quarterfinals. The quarters are really on Wednesday. Big South, hire some competent website editors.

Here are my predictions for the entire tournament.

First Round Winners: VMI, Gardner-Webb.

Quarterfinal Winners: Coastal Carolina, Campbell, UNC-Asheville, Liberty.

Semifinal Winners: Campbell, UNC-Asheville.

My pick to win the whole tournament is UNC-Asheville.
