Ozzie Smith returns to the St. Louis Cardinals as a special coach for players

Former St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Ozzie Smith 57, nicknamed the Wizard Of Oz for his amazing play at shortstop during his playing days returned to the team for the first time in years. Smith said it was nice to breathe in spring training air once again.

St. Louis Cardinals manager greeted Smith with open arms Saturday. Smith had a break up with former manager Tony La Russa over the way he was treated by La Russa over his handling of how Smith's playing career ended. Smith only attended formal Cardinals functions.

Smith will working with the Cardinals in spring training for one week working with the Cardinals players on baseball techniques and fielding practice. Smith said on Saturday he is happy to be welcomed back and will work with the Cardinals team on a yearly basis.
