The Madhya Pradesh Director General Of Police , Mr. SK Raut claimed in

Bhopal on thursday that the police has solved the mystery of the murder of

the journalist Mr. Chandrika Rai and his family in their family house in Umaria

District of Madhya Pradesh . It was revealed the scribe , Mr. Chandrica Rai was

involved in the kidnapping of the son of a PWD official and received huge

amount in ransom . The sharing of the booty is reported to be the main

reason for the murders which had put sever pressure on the Madhya Pradesh

government .

According to the police , Anant Jhariya , the 7 year old son of Mr. Hemant

Sharma , posted as a Sub- divisional Officer with the Madhya Pradesh

Public Works Department ( PWD ) and a huge amount of ransom received

by the scribe . The abductors who are now in police custody and have

confessed to the crime have revealed that the unfair distribution of the

ransom booty led to the murders of the journalist and his family .

It may be mentioned here that the murder of the 42 years old scribe ,

Mr. chandrika Rai , his wife Durga Rai 40 , son Jalal ,19 and daughter ,

Nisha , 14 were found murdered in their house in the Umaria district of

Madhya Pradesh . The incident had put serious pressure on the Madhya

Pradesh government as the matter was related to the safety of journalists

in the state . Mr. Chandrika Rai had worked as a freelance journalist for

Navbharat and Hitavada newspapers . His wife was , Durga Rai was a

member of the local District Council .

The press Council Of India had also appointed a fact finding team

consisting of Kosuri Amarnath , Rajeev Ranjan Nag and Kalyan Barooah ,

to inquire into the murder of journalist Chandrika Rai and his family .
