Is Ron Paul a fake?

MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell thinks congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul is a fake. He thinks he does not stand true to his libertarian ideals on some issues, especially on women's reproductive rights. Do you agree or disagree? (Click on the video above to listen.)

During Wednesday's GOP debate in Arizona, Ron Paul had this to say about contraception:

"As an OB doctor I have dealt with birth control pills and contraception for a long time....but sort of along the line of the pill creating the immorality, I don't see it that way--I think the immorality creates the problems of wanting to use the pills--it's the immorality of society that we have to deal with--but the pills cannot be blamed for the immorality of society."

Earlier during the debate, he responded to moderator CNN's John King's question about him calling Rick Santorum "a fake" in one of his television ads. He didn't apologize for the name-calling but re-iterated promptly that the front-runner was indeed a fake, for his record as a consistent fiscal conservative was deeply flawed. Paul pointed out that Santorum had voted for "No Child Left Behind" while now claiming to be on the side of smaller government and fiscal responsibility. Paul also accused Santorum of voting for abortion by voting to fund Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood, like ACORN, serves communities where people need help the most. It is under a full-on offensive by conservatives, even if they perform more mammograms. pelvic exams, teen pregnancy prevention workshops and STDs testing than abortions.

ACORN fell under the onslaught of the Right and have since closed their doors, leaving many out in the proverbial cold. They had assisted poor communities with everything from housing to voting, taxes and other legal help.

Now that conservatives have gotten rid of Acorn, they have set their sights on PP and the "Godfather" of Libertarianism is not doing his usual criticisms of "government's intrusive big arm" getting in the way of rights and freedoms like he does for wars, social programs, healthcare, the Federal Reserve, FEMA and just about every other branch of government. So isn't he acting more like the fake he accused fellow candidate Santorum of being?

What happened to being the constant, ever-vigilant protector of individual civil liberties? His libertarian ideology makes him accuse even the Civil Rights Act of 1964 of being unconstitutional. He says, it protects a group of people when we should be looking at individual rights, not collective rights.

But here he is calling sex with contraception "immoral" and all of us who enjoy love-making without the fear of an unwanted pregnancy "an immoral society."

What gives, Ron Paul? When asked by John King to use one word to describe themselves, candidate, Rick Santorum said "courage." Mitt Romney said "Resolute" and Newt Gingrich said, "Cheerful."

Ron Paul's one word to sum up himself was "consistent," but I see some inconsistencies here, Ronnie.
