Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You - Lyrics

Many were stunned to see pictures of late Whitney Houston lying in her open casket on National Enquirer's front cover of this week’s edition. There was public backlash and furor over the graphic images with people reproving the images on social media websites. The picture that was printed on the cover was captioned “Whitney: The Last Photo Inside Her Private Viewing”. It still remains undisclosed as to who took the picture.

The picture shows Houston lying in her golden casket in her favorite purple dress with diamond earrings and a brooch and is said to have been taken inside the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark, New Jersey. The magazine has stated that Houston was buried with at least $500,000 worth of jewellery and was also adorned with golden slippers. The death came as a surprise to many with Houston dying at only 48 years of age. Her life was marred with controversies regarding her marriage and drug abuse.

National Enquirer is being criticized for disrespecting and invading Houston’s privacy even in death.

“The Enquirer struck again with its latest cover featuring Whitney Houston in a casket. It's just another disgusting display of how low celebrity obsession can stoop. Regardless of how they obtained the picture - and the likely exorbitant price they paid for it, the Enquirer should have thought twice about this post-mortem portrait," Denise Warner, the executive editor of, said. "No one needs to remember Whitney preserved in formaldehyde. And it's certainly not an image that is necessary in the discussion of her life and death."

Carolyn Whigham, the owner of the Whigham Funeral Home, said, “I have spoken with the family about this and they have asked me not to comment on the matter.”

Whitney Houston, who reached to the pinnacles of fame and success with her enthralling voice that captivated the hearts of everyone, was found dead in the bathtub of her fourth floor hotel suite at Beverly Hilton Hotel, Los Angeles, on the eve of the Grammy Awards. The cause of the death has still not been confirmed. The media is abuzz with rumors that the real reason behind her sudden death is due to abusing prescription drugs and a possible combination of prescription drugs and alcohol. The singer’s funeral took place on Saturday and the ceremony was attended by many celebrities including Mariah Carey, Oprah Winfrey, mentor Clive Davis, her on again off again romantic interest Ray J and Kevin Costner, who also co-starred with her in “The Bodyguard”.

In a burial service attended by close friends and family, she was laid to rest the following day.
