According to latest reports, television executives have after months of negotiations decided to castin the role of legendary Oscar winner Elizabeth Taylor in a new TV movie, so long as she keeps herself out of trouble.
This could well be a dream project for “The Mean Girls” star, considering her obsession with old Hollywood movies. Lindsay Lohan was earlier considered as one of the top contenders to play the late star in the Lifetime network biopic “Liz and Dick.”
The television movie focuses on the roller coaster love affair between Elizabeth Taylor and famed star Richard Burton. The story is expected to cover the full gamut of the couple’s tumultuous relationship, including the time they spent on the sets of "Cleopatra" as also their marriages twice and subsequent divorces.
Larry Thompson, the Executive Producer of the biopic says he is in discussion with many young Hollywood stars, including Lindsay Lohan and, about playing the legendary screen goddess, who died last year. According to him, "It's a very serious selection. It's like casting for Hollywood royalty," he adds.
Access Hollywood confirms that Thompson has now agreed to cast the 25-year-old Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor in his movie "Liz and Dick," so long as she does not break the rules of her probation (those pertaining to community service), especially after her string of legal tussles.
Well, really hope this confidence on part of the Elizabeth Taylor biopic film makers, about Lindsay walking the straight path is not misplaced, considering her history.
