One has to always be alert when on any job, especially a specialized one like stealing transformer parts from an electrical power substation.

Unfortunately, this stupid thief of Leicester, 36-year old Michael Harper was probably not aware of this basic principle and paid the price.

Michael Harper, father of two kids, while attempting to steal the transformer parts, decided before he could finish the job he needed to relieve himself. So he urinated against the transformer which set off a fire.

The fire not only disfigured him for life, but cut off power supply to over 3000 houses and business establishments in the area.

These houses and business got their power supplies via this transformer.

The loss is around $42,000.

Harper had an accomplice, 50-year old Richard Boyce, who tried to run away, but he was eventually caught.

Both the culprits are now in jail – Michael imprisoned for one year and Richard for 4-years.
