Santorum Slams Obama's Agenda Driven by a

Praise be to the Father, may His kingdom come. Praise be to Jesus Christ and to the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.

As Republican candidates battle to win the nomination to become the banner-carrier for their party during the upcoming presidential election, we have seen them attack each other time and again. As usual, rather than focusing on the issues that the government is best-suited to handle, the candidates are focusing on personal attacks. As I have said many times before, politics is Satan’s playground.

The most recent barrage of personal attacks has come from Rick Santorum, who recently questioned President Barack Obama’s Christian faith. In a recent report from Reuters, Santorum is quoted as saying “White House policies were motivated by a 'different theology.'” Reuters also reported that Santorum stated that “Obama’s agenda is 'not about you. It's not about your quality of life. It's not about your jobs. It's about some phony ideal. Some phony theology. Oh, not a theology based on the Bible. A different theology.'”

Now, as a follower of Christ I disagree with President Obama’s social policies. After all, abortion is an abomination against God and homosexuality goes against God. However, for me to demand that the president govern the United States based on my theology would certainly be presumptuous and not in keeping with my Christian faith. Imagine the injustice that would take place if I were to force Christianity upon other people. It would be the crusades all over again.

So while I understand Rick Santorum’s concerns when it comes to the laws of this land not being in line with the Bible, I do not agree with his attempt to wage war on those who do not believe on what the Holy Bible teaches. I know, unbelievers are taking over this country and are setting up laws and regulations that will inevitably lead to an all out persecution of Christians in America. However, persecution is what we Christians signed up for. I say it again; Christians will more than likely face persecution before Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior returns. Christ our Passover tells us that we “…will be handed over to be persecuted and be put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.”(Matthew 24:9)

Therefore, those who are bent on setting up a fortress to contain the world’s corruption from bringing harm to Christians in this country or anywhere for that matter, lack a deep understanding of God’s plan for those who follow Him. It is my opinion that they are too busy trying not to suffer and are refusing to die for Christ. Those who chose to defend Christianity by setting up a government that will enforce the Law are looking at things in the flesh and are not guided by the Holy Spirit. One may say that they are operating from a faulty theology, and are certainly living a phony ideal that is not based on the Bible.

So as a believer of Christ, I invite you to focus your energy on evangelizing as the only means to spread God’s message instead of using politics to enforce God’s Law.
