Naked Cowboy Discusses Policies & Problems

Report By: Nina Rai

New York, 19 Feb, 2012

Are you one of those Americans who is inimical to President Obama? Neither do you fancy casting a vote for Mitt Romney or anybody else vying for the Republican consent? How about a candidate who will most willingly display to you everything that doesn’t fit in his teeny-weeny whities?

With the 2012 Presidential elections in US drawing closer, doubt if most Americans have spared a thought for more than three hundred odd, relatively unknown fellow Americans who have registered with the US Federal Election Commission offering their candidature for the President’s post, the highest and the most prestigious office in USA.

All it takes to run for the presidency here is to be at least 35 years old, be a Native American and have resided in US for at least 14 years and you've got what it takes. A person need not even have a shirt and a pair of pants. Don’t believe this conjecture, well you can check with the inimitable Robert Burck, popularly nick-named as New York's Naked Cowboy.

Burck is a Times Square street entertainer who is often seen in nothing more than boots, a cowboy hat and a pair of briefs. And now he is all set to saddle up for a White House trot. Wikipedia informs that it was on September 29, 2010, that Burck announced his intentions to challenge President Obama in the 2012 presidential elections.

At the announcement, Burck said that he has a "very conservative policy" and that he had an "unapologetic commitment to our borders, our language and our culture." Later on October 6, 2010 Burck officially declared his presidential candidacy at a press conference in Times Square. According to him he is neither a Democrat nor a Republican. He is just "an American." His intention he said is to lead the American Tea Party movement into the Oval Office.

Speaking to Huffington Post he says that his campaign is a kind of disclaimer of Obama's direction and a political statement. "It's also a willingness to represent a different opinion," he opines. Though Burck is in the presidential election fray as an independent, he is a bit peeved that no Republican till date has given him their support. He believes that his platform fits in with that of the present GOP tenet, which calls for smaller federal governance, open market economics and a strong national defense as is possible.

This is Burck’s take on his campaign” I know what it takes to run a successful business …. Plus, it's obvious I have nothing to hide,"(probably the pun is unintended). It can be stated that among all the other independent candidates, Burck at least has some amount of name recognition. However, whether he will count in the final analysis, is to be seen only after the Nov. 2012 Presidential election results are out.

Meanwhile, would like to know whether you are going to vote for the “Naked Cowboy” in the 2012 United States Presidential Election?
