As the rematch between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen comes closer to reality, the clash becomes headlines in Brazilian news websites. Today, in one of the most popular news websites in that country, Jose Aldo, the Featherweight UFC champion, told in an interview that the Spider should “humiliate him...” [Sonnen] when they fight in Brazil, probably in Sao Paulo, in June this year, “... so that he[Sonnen] never ever thinks about stepping into the octagon” with his fellow Brazilian UFC Middleweight champion again. Aldo also said that Chael’s “chances of winning the contest are zero”.
He added that, despite the many offensive comments Sonnen has made about Brazil and Brazilian fighters, Brazilian fans will likely give no special attention to the big-mouthed American if he comes to Brazil. Regarding to Chael’s attempt to gain sponsorship and support from Palmeiras, a sports club that is the main rival of Anderson Silva’s sponsors, Corinthians, Jose Aldo said that no Brazilian should give Sonnen any support and he seriously doubts Palmeiras fans would evr think of supporting Chael.
When the interviewers asked if he would ever accept the challenge to fight Chael Sonnen in the Octagon, Aldo said: “If I’d fight him? Absolutely! I’d face anyone except for fellow Brazilians... and the guys that are ‘too big'" he laughs.
