The U.S. maker of Barbie dolls, Mattel Inc., will issue a special two-doll set in April to mark the one-year royal wedding anniversary of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Westminster Abbey.
The dolls which are part of Mattel’s Barbie Collector items will come dressed up in outfits replicating those the royal couple wore in a ceremony that was viewed by at least 3 billion people worldwide.
For Prince William, a pint-sized version of his red Irish Guards outfit with a bright blue sash. And for Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, a diminutive of the traditional white dress and veil she wore, and on her head a tiny crown or tiara similar to the diamond-studded original she borrowed from Queen Elizabeth.
The two-doll set is priced for $100 and Mattel is taking pre-orders at www.barbiecollector.com.
Among Mattel's Barbie Collector, includes country singers Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, as well as TV stars Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.
