MANILA PHILIPPINES--Facing the challenges ahead Project e-UP has 5 components that will execute the project-- Policy formulation, organization, and mobilization: System-wide policies and standards on ICT resources acquisition and use is formulated.
A University-wide ICT organization is created; Benchmarking and ICT audit with top universities around the world will be done to investigate their use of ICT and document the best practices, ICT audit will be implemented for a comprehensive study of existing ICT systems and infrastructure within UP System.
Acquisition/Development and Installation of proper Information Systems and aspects of operations that can benefit from ICT shall be analyzed. Eventually, each constituent university and the UP system should benefit from having centralized, standardized, or interoperable systems.
ICT Infrastructure development deals with university’s ICT Infrastructure that shall be upgraded to make it at par with the best universities in the world and will need major investments on hardware, communications systems, and interconnection.
ICT competency building: The University shall upgrade its IT knowledge base with the establishment and implementation of IT ability and competence building initiatives for faculty, staff and students. There will be tie-ups and programs as well to strengthen partnerships and upgrade government and industry competencies.
Key Personalities come from The University of the Philippines Information Technology Development Center (UP ITDC), Department of Computer Science and the College of Engineering UP, Diliman.
Working hand in hand to aid in achieving the goals and implementation of e-UP, there shall be an e-UP Project Core Team, which will undergo organizational changes with expansion of role and functions with selected Project Development Associates (PDAs) with top key people identified from the University of the Philippines IT Training Center.
