Skooter reporting 02/10/12
At a Subway restaurant a woman was shot in the neck during a robbery attempt in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood tonight, authorities said. Police responded to a call at 8:50 p.m. and rushed to the 1100 block of North Western Avenue where the woman, in her 40s was hit in the neck, according to police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien.
It seemed the woman was shot while the robbery was going on, O’Brien said. Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said she was brought to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in “extremely critical” condition.
The woman was shot when she “resisted” the robbery, a source said. Cash could be seen scattered on the floor. No one has been arrested, O’Brien said.
