Ituri: More than 1000 cholera cases in two months and 17 736 malaria acute cases in three weeks

In Ituri district, in DRC Eastern Province, 1 024 cholera cases which 30 deaths between December 5, 2011 and February 5, 2012 have been reported by Committee of fight against epidemic and natural catastrophes, announces an OCHA press release of yesterday. Great Britain OXFAM explains this situation by the fact that the population is forced to consume Albert Lake water.

A total of 17 736 malaria acute cases which 28 deaths has been registered from 1st to 21 January 2012, according to health’s provincial inspection, indicates the OCHA press release.
