Prior to his election in 2008, Obama remarked that if he couldn't "get it done" in under four years he would be a one-term president. Now he wants to change his tune and sing "give me just one more chance" all the way back to the White House in 2012. Does he deserve a second chance? Not really.
In three years this president has managed to increase our debt so much that even the people who were steadfast behind him have begun to abandon ship. He has exhibited about as much leadership for our country as the captain of the Costa Concordia did when he was abandoning ship. Although he talked a good game when he was running for election, he has failed to follow through since he has been in office. He has not delivered on any of his promises (with the possible exception of his Health Care Debacle); no one is better off than they were 4 years ago (except for the First Lady's wardrobe); fuel is not lower in price; unemployment is even higher than it was; foreclosures are unending and GITMO is still open. Even the people who always speak in his behalf have dialed down their rhetoric so that they won't look like total fools blindly following him.
He has spent a lot of the last three years on the road campaigning to win a second term. In fact, he started campaigning for the 2012 election the day after he was sworn into office. His speeches all say the same thing. He claims he has created thousands of jobs but only he seems to believe that. He claims we are all better off than we were but only he and the First Lady seem to be thriving. I can't be the only person that has noticed that there has been a lot of political pay-back to his cronies who supported him and his road to office. Several huge loans were made to his friends and supporters (some of them even out of the country)with little or no possibility of the country getting paid back.
He has walked a very thin line between Socialism and Communism since he was a young college guy trying to find his "place" in the world. His family background had groomed him for the beliefs that he was leaning toward and nothing in his day-to-day life or new found friends seemed to guide him toward capitalism or democracy. His birth father wrote about Socialism. taxing the very rich and taking private land. Doesn't this sound like the plan Obama keeps touting where the "Rich pay their fair share"? His mother had Communist leanings and the two parents even met in Russian class. How could the young Obama have helped but absorb some of his parents' beliefs and then elaborate on them after meeting up with similar beliefs in college?
Since his election government intervention in private affairs and lives has increased 25% or more. He has invoked Executive Privilege (or intends to do so) in order to see that he gets his way when he has been thwarted by the House and Senate failing to pass his pet projects. He has denied the pipeline even though he knows that it will produce hundreds and maybe thousands of jobs for people who are out of work, bring workers into areas that people have left because previous jobs have gone, and made the US less dependant on the Middle East for fuel. Rather than make a decision that might be unpopular with the environmentalists who support him, Obama passed the buck once again by deciding to wait to make a decision until the election is over.
While he has been president, Obama and his wife have taken lavish vacations on the American dime. When fuel is high and we are having supply difficulties, the couple has spent money to fly multiple planes to foreign countries, stay in lavish suites with room service bills that would feed a family of 4 for a month, taken family vacations at the expense of the American people when it would seem more Presidential for him and his family to consider the American people who are out of work, losing their houses and can't afford a vacation at all.
So, do I want to give him the chance to do it all again or make it even worse for four more year. No. He hasn't done a thing to earn my trust or vote.
