Body detox with vegetable juices

Your body is just like a machine ceaselessly doing its job, day in and day out. The fist-sized, bean shaped kidney inside is busy acting as a natural filter for your body. Its basic function is to filter the blood and discard wastes such as salts, toxins, pollutants and other unwanted matter from your body.

However, with time, as you grow older, toxins start accumulating inside your body. In fact your body’s own natural functions can result in toxin accumulation while trying to detoxify it-self. This can come in the way of body's ability to function properly, which in turn can manifest in physical problems and cause disease, if left unchecked.

The accumulation of harmful toxins in your body will then manifest itself in different ways. It will be in the form of bloating, dryness of skin and hair, feeling of lethargy, a sense of listlessness, constipation, depression, poor circulation etc. In other words, you will start feeling unhealthy. This is a signal that your body needs to undergo a cleaning process or what is called detoxification. This then raises the question. What kind of treatment is required to carry out the procedure? Is it complicated? Is it too expensive?

Well, it’s neither. In-fact, it’s very simple, easy and most effective and can be tried out at home itself. All you got to do is take a bunch each of parsley and coriander leaves. After that thoroughly wash the two sets of herbs, till its squeaky clean. Then chop it into small pieces and offload into a pot. Pour sufficient clean water over it.

For two big bunches of the leaves you may pour 10 cups of water. Boil the concoction for ten minutes and let it cool down. Then filter the decoction into a clean bottle. When it cools down, keep the green liquid inside a refrigerator.

Then every day without fail, drink one glass of the said liquid. You will soon notice all the unhealthy salts, pollutants and other accumulated toxins coming out of your kidney by means of urination. After a few days you will start feeling a noticeable difference within yourself, something never felt before, as in being fresh, healthy and sprightly.

The medicinal benefits of the herb Cilantro (coriander) was also discovered through his work by Dr. Yoshiaki Omura. While doing a test of toxic metals in the body such as mercury, lead, and aluminum, Dr. Omura found that the leaves of the coriander plant (cilantro) could hasten the excretion of mercury, lead, and aluminum from the body.

On the other hand, herbalists for ages have known of the herb parsley and its healing properties. It is considered a powerful diuretic and often suggested as remedy for those with kidney problems. This herb has been shown to inhibit the re-absorption of salt into the body tissues which increases the herbs activity as a diuretic. Parsley is understood to help in improving and increasing urination thereby allowing toxins to be discharged more speedily by the kidneys.

Here are some facts about the two herbs: parsley and coriander. The scientific name for Parsley is ‘petroselinum crispum.’ It is best known for its ability to cleanse the kidneys and is an absolute natural there. It’s rich in Vitamin K, Vitamin C and Vitamin A (β-Carotene). Its nutritional value per 100g edible portion is as follows: Water 84.7 g, Protein 3.7 g, Lipid 0.7 g, Carbohydrate 8.2 g and Ash 2.7 g.

On the other hand, coriander leaves or cilantro too is known for its high value of nutrients. It is a rich source of vitamins, such as Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin B6. It is very low in saturated fat and has no cholesterol. It’s very high in calcium, dietary fiber, iron, manganese, magnesium, niacin, pantothenic acid, phosphorus, potassium, riboflavin, thiamin and zinc.

Parsley is easy to grow in almost any little corner of your garden or a flower pot - why ever be without it? It is a bi-annual, which means it will grow the first year and die back when the frost arrives.
