We have heard of Duplicates in films (those who perform the dangerous stunts in action films), also of Duplicates in politics (as stand-ins and decoys for top leaders) - but this was a Duplicate of another kind.
It was a whirlwind tour of Paris that Holly Ferrier a 26-year-old of Camrose, Alberta, would never forget in a hurry - she enjoyed an all expenses paid week’s vacation sponsored by a French TV house. Her mission was to compete in a look-alike competition to elect a ‘double’ for the Duchess of Cambridge.
She bore a striking resemblance toand when Kate had visited Calgary last year, a newspaper reported on this extraordinary feature. Holly had, at the time, opened a Duchess of Cambridge look-alike page on Facebook.
Later she forgot all about it and got busy in her regular activities working as an advertising rep at a local weekly newspaper. Then, one day, she went to the page and discovered messages from the French TV show – ‘who is the best look alike?’
It offered an all-expenses paid trip to Paris with the chance to win a reward of $20.000.
Holly was hesitating on the genuineness of the offer when she received air tickets by mail ... and, that was that. She went to Paris accompanied by her aunt and, even though she did not bag the prize, she had the whale of a time pretending to be the Duchess of Cambridge. She even had a look-alike Prince William for company – he was a civil engineer from London.
Holly Ferrier left Paris after a visit to the Eiffel Tower.
