A team of three hedgehog-mushroom hunters Belinda and Daniel Conne with their 35-year old son Michael lost their way in the Oregon Forest and survived for six days on water from a nearby stream and sleeping in the hollow of trees. They had lost all bearing and the overhead rescue helicopters could not locate them due o the thick undergrowth.
The trio finally crawled to clearing 330-miles southwest of Portland from where the helicopter saw them, picked them up and transferred them to the Gold Beach hospital. Apart from being hungry and dehydrated, Daniel had a back injury, Belinda had hypothermia and Michael had frostbite.
