Drunk grandmother arrested Friday for child endangerment

News sources KPLCTV.com, CNN, and KOVR. Sacramento California. A one month old baby boy was found along the side of Watt Avenue near Interstate 80 across the street from a hotel Friday afternoon while cars passed by with a bottle of brandy near him.

Sacramento Sheriff officer Christie Lynn said "I don't know how you can leave a kid for any length of time no matter what you're going to do."

A few person watched over the baby until the police arrived.

Kit Samuel 54, who is the baby's grandmother was arrested by the police at the scene when she came to see her baby. Police said she was drunk when she left a hotel across the street.

A man who was the hotel said he heard Kit and a hotel security person having an arguement and that she kept crossing the street from the hotel and returned a few minutes later.

Samuel was charged with felony child endangerment and public intoxication. It is unkwown why Samuel was at the hotel in a neighborhood known for drug dealing and prostitution.

Police are very thankful that some good people took care of the baby until they arrived. The child was taken to a child care center by the authorities.
