Iran has been in the news for the past quite some time for its controversial nuclear program. The international community has been using different tactics to pressure Iran over the issue, but the country remains adamant. Israel, United States and now the European Union have raised concerns over the alleged nuclear program of the country and demanded an end to the nuclear enrichment. These countries believe if Iran succeeds in developing nuclear weapons, the whole region including Israel will be facing serious threats.
Recently, European Union slapped oil embargo over the country in the wake of pressure from the United States, while a number of other punitive measures are still being pondered to be imposed. The United States has already slapped a number of economic sanctions over Iran in a bid to have Iran halt its nuclear activities, but has failed to get Iran do that so far. Indeed, Iran's economy will suffer by these punitive measures, but not as much as the US and its allies are expecting.
Russia, China and a number of other countries, including some North American countries, are still doing billions of dollars business with Iran. It is pertinent to mention here that Russia and China wield veto power and have blocked a number of resolutions in the United Nations Security Council tabled against Iran, so there is a dire need to convince these countries to stop their immoral support of Iran, which, along with Iraq and North Korea, was declared "axis of evil" by former US President George Bush.
Why is Israel so desperate to attack nuclear installations of Iran? There is a fear among intelligence agencies of Israel about Iran. Israeli officials believe if Iran succeeds in developing nuclear assets, then its most easy target will be Israel. Thus, the country will become vulnerable and its existence be endangered. Therefore, Israel has also been pressuring and exhorting the US to attack nuclear installations of Iran because this is the only way to get rid of the country.
On the other hand, Israel also believes that if it attacks Iran,, along with a number of other terrorist outfits, will retaliate. Iranian officials have also never made it a secret; they have always said if Iran is attacked, Israel will be wiped out from earth. This is the genuine fear that keeps Israel in limbo over its plan of invading Iran.
