SnitchSeeker - JK Rowling & Daniel Radcliffe discuss casting Harry Potter

Less than a week after Pat Sajak, host of “Wheel of Fortune”, revealed he used to drink before taping the show’s episodes, another star has admitted to being drunk on the sets. The celebrity is none other than leading star of the “Harry Potter” franchise, Daniel Radcliffe.

22-year-old Daniel Radcliffe, who is best known as the boy wizard from the “Harry Potter” films, revealed to British magazine Heat that he often went to work while “still drunk.” The actor, who previously opened up about his issues with alcohol, insisted that he never drank at work, but was occasionally drunk on set.

"I can honestly say I never drank at work on Harry Potter. I went into work still drunk," Daniel Radcliffe told the magazine. "I can point to many scenes where I'm just gone. Dead behind the eyes.”

He continued, “I have a very addictive personality. It was a problem. People with problems like that are very adept at hiding it. It was bad. I drank a lot and it was … nightly."

Daniel Radcliffe, who shot to fame as the bespectacled boy wizard Harry Potter at the age of 11, was addicted to alcohol before giving up in August 2010. The actor explained in a previous interview with ShortList magazine that he didn’t start drinking because he had gained fame for Harry Potter, something that most people assume.

“What ‘Potter’ did do was put me around people who were older than me, and I heard all of their amazing stories about their drunk nights. I just started thinking, ‘That’s what I want,’” said the young star. “I don’t think I ever had one, great drunk night, but I had heard about them, and that was what I was desperately trying to pursue.”

Talking about his "fun drunken nights out," Daniel said, "Yeah, but I can’t remember them. Seriously, in the last three years of drinking I blacked out nearly every time. Blacking out was my thing."

"The drinking was unhealthy and damaging to my body and my social life. That’s beyond question," he recalled. "I was living in constant fear of who I’d meet, what I might have said to them, what I might have done with them, so I’d stay in my apartment for days and drink alone."

The actor went on to say that he no longer drinks. "You either have to change something or give into that shame," he told Heat.

Daniel Radcliffe is currently promoting his new movie “The Woman in Black”.
