Why do some people often say "Do not mix business and pleasure"? Is the two not possible to achieve at the same time? Today, a lot of people are focused on how to make a living. Most of the time, they forget to take a day off to relax and enjoy. Studies have shown that people working until the wee hours of the night including the poor environment might lead to poor concentration, irritability, anger, poor judgement, marriage breakups, family fights, road rage, suicide and violence. They also have a higher risk of gaining diseases such as hypertension, cancer, insomnia, diabetes etc.

According to Fredrik Bajer, "Naturally, business and pleasure can be readily combined, but a certain balance should exist, and the latter should not predominate over the former." True enough, mixing business and pleasure requires a lot of balance and strategies that most people find it difficult. But the ability to integrate business with pleasure is just easy if you know how to find the perfect timing and the right place.

In order to successfully mix business with pleasure, we must know the boundaries of what is feasible and what is just not possible. Many people are successful in business simply because they know how to make deals and interact professionally outside of working hours. We should all learn to be serious when necessary and to play hard whenever the time comes.
