Tusks of elephants ($30,000 to $60,000 per pair) have always been in demand and the pachyderms used to be killed for these attractive items – couple of new items has got added to this list of desirables, namely - the trunk and the sex organs ($950.00 per piece). These reproductive organs are believed to improve and boost the sexual prowess and are in great demand in restaurants in Phuket.

It seems some portions of elephant meat should be taken in the raw and without cooking – that improves the effectiveness. This tasty dish is called ‘elephant sashimi’.

The elephants are held in high esteem by Thailand but this new breed of poachers has the financial aspect in mind and do not bother about niceties
