Catrina Fox, 17, was considered a troubled teen. Her friend Kayla Lucero, 18 said the girl was dealing “with a lot of demons…and she went over the edge. She had a breakdown.”
Fox was a riding with her mother, when she suddenly opened the car door and jumped out. The car was heading on U.S. 285 in Jefferson County. The pair were traveling at 1 am when Fox leapt out of her mother’s sedan and onto the highway.
Fox was struck and killed instantly by another speeding vehicle. The driver of the 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser, that struck Fox, was a 17-year-old boy.
An eyewitness, Dean Drakel, told the Denver Post, “I’ve never seen anything like that. She just got hit at full speed. It was horrific.
Several people ran to Fox and tried to revive her. Fox’s mother passed out apparently from shock.
A Facebook wall has been dedicated to the memory of Fox. Many condolence messages have been posted for Fox and her mother.
