Sacramento, the capitol of California, is leading the way when it comes to the installation of solar panels. The city has tripled the installation of solar panels on its rooftops over the last two years.
Over 16 megawatts of solar energy capacity is now installed out across the Sacramento skyline. This makes Sacramento 7th in the statewide list but number one in terms of growth. It seems the environmental and economic benefits of solar power are striking a chord with Sacramento's population.
And its not just Sacramento that's stepping up to the mark when it comes to solar power. The latest report from Environment California reveals Rancho Cordova, Auburn and Woodland all rank in the top 30 cities in California for solar capacity.
The solar panel option is increasingly seductive even to those whose decisions are not based on uplifting their green credentials but want to make financial savings. The cost of installation is soon got back and with good tax breaks the solar panel way makes a good financial investment return after just a short time.
California being the sunshine state does of course have many advantages when it comes to solar power generation but even further north solar panels can make a dent on those energy bills. As we move further forward into the 21st century it seems we'll all be seeing more of the tell tale rooftop glint that signifies solar panels on the roof and not just in southern states but across the US.
