Daniel Hanna, 18, donning aensemble was arrested at the Sundance Film Festival. The infamous festival held annually in Park City, is the brainchild of Robert Redford. In a statement earlier this week, Redford stated that Sundance was the 99%. Ironically, Occupy SLC chose to send a few of its members to the site. Hanna was at the festival on behalf of the Occupy SLC movement.
Hanna was arrested for criminal mischief and disorderly conduct when he allegedly exchanged political diatribes with a Pleasant Grove couple. The couple, driving alongside Hanna, yelled out “get a job.”
Hanna stated; “I shouted back that I have a job and we are the 99 percent.” He stated that he told the female passenger, “I love you.” In which she retorted, “I hate you.”
Hanna told authorities that the Explorer intentionally turned into him, thrusting him into a deep puddle. Hanna then stated he threw the protest sign at the vehicle.
Authorities spoke to the couple, but arrested only Hanna. Authorities told Hanna that he had not been hit by the car, but the sign did a bit of damage to the vehicle.
Park City police Capt. Phil Kirk stated that eyewitness saw Hanna and other Occupy SLC members ran and yell on the road. Witnesses state that the Explorer pulled to the side and Hanna fell into the snow.
Hanna has been bailed out of jail after doing several rounds of “Folsom Prison Blues.”
