Dead end for Boko Haram sect

Dead end for Boko Haram sect By EMMANUEL UDOM Prophet Temitope Joshua, founder of the Synagogue church of all nation, located in Ikotun area of Lagos, southwest Nigeria is regarded as a miracle worker, the messiah of our time and to put it bluntly, our present day Jesus Christ by some persons across the globe To others, he is simply a juju man-turned pastor, a cabalist and a mystic, who is using his adbracabra to bamboozle some ignorant and desperate miracle seekers in the name of serving God and humanity. But, wherever you stand in these two sides of the divide, you may not be able to convince some persons in Nigeria, as well as other parts of the world that the muslim-turned pastor is not generous to a fault. To put it simply, the man is too much Over the years, the man from the synagogue, as Joshua is fondly called has dolled out millions in naira and foreign currencies to the less privileged in the society. He seems to be more comfortable with the poor in our society, even as the media in the last decades have painted him in various colors Enough of these flattering words, as I have not being paid to do image laundering for Joshua. I am not supposed to be paid to do my job as a journalist anyway A couple of weeks back on a Sunday, I sneaked into the premises of the Synagogue church of all nations, while the service was going on without drawing attention to myself. During the sermon, Joshua told most of the fanatical members of his church that like all other situations before it, the Boko Haram madness will soon pass away The church founder may be regarded as God to some of his fanatical members, but as far as I am concerned, he is a human being with flesh and blood flowing in his veins. The Bible says all have sin. Therefore, Joshua, my humble self, as well as the estimated seven billion people in this world are sinners. Period But, as an investigative journalist, who has been following closely the menace of Boko Haram in the last couple of years, I tend to agree with Joshua that before March this year, the madness called Boko Haram will pass away, just like the Bible has rightly said Yes, members of the Islamic sect may have killed many in their desperate attempts to impose Islam in Nigeria, curiously at this time that President Goodluck Jonathan, a minority from Bayelsa state is now the commander-in-chief and head of the federal government of Nigeria, yes some northern leaders think, rightly or wrongly that the presidency is their birthright, but I know deep down that all these shall pass way. As at today, if media reports are anything to go bye, the leader of the sect has been killed in a bloody all-night shoot-out with some security operatives. I have no doubt to disbelief the statement by Jonathan that Boko Haram sponsors and loyalists have infiltrated the government and security agencies. He is the commander-in-chief and the bucks therefore stop at his table. However, if feelers from security agencies are anything to go bye, then security operatives are on top of the situation and could soon bring this madness to an and. Before, you crucify me; let me tell you here and now that I am not a paid agent for Jonathan. But, I am a Nigerian, who is desperately interested in the peace, progress and unity of Nigeria. Nigerians who think the country should secede are not being fair. Diving the country is selfish, self- centered and will never, ever lead to permanent peace. The north, south, east and west must co-exist as one united, indivisible country. Anything to the contrary sounds nonsensical to my ears I rest my pen for now
