Republican Presidential hopefuls Mitt Romney (L), Newt Gingrich (C) and Rick Perry

With Newt Gingrich’s overwhelming victory in the state of South Carolina, the former House Speaker is quickly changing the dynamics of this election for the GOP nomination.

Before the campaign season began, the conventional wisdom has been that Mitt Romney was a much more electable candidate than Newt Gingrich. We have also repeatedly been told that the former Massachusetts governor would be a more formidable candidate.

When it comes to Mitt’s invincibility, they’ve obviously failed to convince Newt Gingrich. Apparently, they are increasingly failing to convince hordes of Republican voters.

Much of what the public thinks they know about Newt Gingrich isn’t true. The Speaker has been caricatured in thousands of political ads in every state in the country. Other than Ronald Reagan, perhaps no figure in modern-day politics has been as wrongly-maligned as Newt Gingrich.

But during the recent debates, Americans are finally starting to become acquainted with Newt Gingrich, who is both a visionary and a reformer.

Despite the fact that his presidential campaign was thought to be dead on arrival, and following his stumble in Iowa, Gingrich has shown himself to have more lives than Jason and his hockey mask.

Newt Gingrich certainly isn’t a perfect man.

Like many conservatives, I have long been disturbed by his marital failings. However, he certainly yields no ground to President Obama on ethical issues. And if the president is foolish enough to challenge Gingrich in a debate on these issues, Gingrich will mop the floor with him.

If it comes down to Gingrich or Obama, there is clearly no question who would be the better choice to lead this country.

Obama is clearly a Marxist, who routinely apologizes for America and bows to foreign dictators. Newt is a somewhat flawed individual, who clearly loves the United States and is unapologetic in his belief that our nation is exceptional.

Perhaps the best qualification Newt has for the presidency is the fact that, unlike Obama, Gingrich doesn’t hold a law degree. Newt is a history teacher, who relishes our country’s founding. He understands our traditions. He is a man of big ideas, who uses his oratory to hearken us to recall our past and to restore our sense of optimism.

This past week has been a game changer in the life of Newt Gingrich and his race for the GOP nomination.

Once again, his debate performance was exceptional. Gov. Perry’s endorsement of Gingrich and his withdrawal from the race certainly concentrated the votes of conservative voters, who share no great love for Mitt Romney. Moreover, the public strongly rallied to the Speaker’s side, when the yellow journalists of ABC aired their contemptible coverage of the unsubstantiated claims by Newt’s angry and bitter ex-wife.

When he withdrew from the race and endorsed Newt Gingrich, Texas Gov. Rick Perry stated that he knew Gingrich was not without some flaws, but Perry also stated that he believed in the power of redemption, in his own life and also, in the life of Newt Gingrich.

And I certainly share Perry’s sentiments.

The more people get to know Newt Gingrich, the better they will come to respect his leadership qualities. In addition, they will also come to realize that Newt is electable; he is experienced. And he is a better candidate to face Obama in November than Mitt Romney.

Those who haven’t been properly introduced to the Speaker fail to realize that he is a man of boldness and courage, a man who already has a proven record of transforming the welfare system and leading our nation to a balanced budget.

In these days when our country is desperately in need of financial restraint on the part of our political leaders, now is not the time for half measures.

If we are to survive as a nation, then America must place a bold reformer in the White House.

There can be no question Obama has made the situation worse.

Newt won’t!
